This draft has been sitting here untouched for a few weeks now. Kept thinking Iâd add to it and that kept me from hitting publish. Well. Here I am, acknowledging that thatâs not gonna happen.

- In case you missed the the high drama between Anthropic, the âDepartment of Warâ, and OpenAI this past week (or if you only engaged with the headlines), I encourage you to read this edition of Mystery AI Hype Theater: 3000 for a breakdown. Unsurprisingly, no, Anthropic are not âthe Good Guysâ here, though it has been somewhat satisfying to see so many people ditchiing OpenAI for their unabashed warmongering.

- This post puts forth a fairly reasonable argument that âAI Didnât Break the Senior Engineer Pipeline. It Showed That One Never Existed.â If what creates growth in engineers has been an accidental byproduct of contact with the work, not anything intentionally designed by engineering orgs, then it shouldnât be a surprise that changing what work engineers come into contact with by changing their tools, i.e. by giving them or forcing them to use LLM-based tooling, has an effect on how engineers are learning and growing.
