Weeknotes Experiment: Week of 2/22/26

Ordered and set up a new access point for the home network. I (foolishly) thought I could get away with a single (beefy) AP, the U6 Enterprise. Not so. It covered just about everywhere in the house except the bedroom, which meant no wind down TV in bed. Could have decided that was a good thing but instead I bought a U7 Lite and set that up near the bedroom. Haven’t tried watching TV in there yet, so the jury’s still out on whether this fixed the problem.
Got rid of the weighted blanket we’ve had for ~4 years. One of the cats barfed all over it and we just… couldn’t handle cleaning it. It was a 35 lb queen size blanket, way too heavy to go in the washing machine, which is probably why Bearaby doesn’t even make it anymore. So yeah. Gone. It had a good run though.
Not exactly new but I’m still stuggling to stay hydrated, so I’m experimenting with novelty (if a drink seems exciting, just go for it, don’t overthink it) and not restricting myself when it comes to the drinks I do reach for (like seltzers). We’ll see how it goes!
And, I suppose obviously, I’m starting this experiment with weeknotes. I’ll try to be consistent, but we’ll see how it goes ¯\(ツ)/¯

The Omnipotence Dilemma - Discusses an “issue” other LLM boosters are starting to notice, which is that being able to do a thing wasn’t actually the real bottleneck, and that being “forced” to choose between options is actually pretty valuable, both in the short and long term.
- The deeper cost is that you outsource the hardest but most important part of creative work: forming a view. What becomes scarce is no longer skill or access. What becomes scarce is attention, conviction, taste, trust, time, and responsibility.
  
  And what worries me the most is that this cost shows up slowly. Projects that don’t quite make sense. A subtle loss of our ability for strategic thinking and meaning-making. Being unable to articulate why in the first place you’re doing this work.

- We’re going to their concert this week!
Taskmaster
- We’ve been bouncing our way around and through Taskmaster. This week we wrapped up season 14 and started 15. I think season 14 may be my favorite so far, or at least have the highest percentage of contestants I wanted to call my favorite. I found Munya Chawawa, Dara Ó Briain, Sarah Millican, and Fern Brady all extremely funny.
